Acknowledgments

An acknowledgment confirms that the signer personally appeared before the notary, was properly identified and declared that the signature was made willingly for the purposes stated in the document.

What this service involves

An acknowledgment focuses on the signature, not on the contents of the document. The signer appears in person, is identified, and acknowledges the signature as their own and made willingly. Depending on the document, the signature may have been made before the appointment.

Common examples

  • Deeds and real-property related forms
  • Agreements that request an acknowledgment
  • Authorization documents

What to bring

  • Current, acceptable government-issued identification
  • The complete, unsigned document (unless the act allows a prior signature)
  • All required signers, present at the same appointment
  • Any witnesses the document may require

A simple three-step process

  1. 1

    Select a service

Tell us what type of notarial service you may need.

  2. 2

    Request an appointment

Choose your preferred date, time and appointment format.

  3. 3

    Receive confirmation

Diana will review the request and confirm eligibility, required identification, location, availability and applicable fees.

Important note

The notarial certificate wording is determined by the document and by applicable law, not by preference.

Not every document can be notarized. The document type, identification, the signer's presence, willingness and awareness, and applicable New Jersey requirements must be reviewed first.

A notarial act does not prove that the contents of a document are truthful, accurate or legally valid.
